An Unvented Cylinder is a type of hot water storage system commonly used in home heating systems. It is called “unvented” because it does not require a separate expansion tank, unlike traditional vented systems.
Unvented Cylinder advantages include:
- Higher water pressure and flow rate.
- No need for a separate cold water storage tank or header tank.
- Space-saving, as it eliminates the need for a separate expansion tank.
- Increased safety as there is no risk of water contamination.

Having recently moved to the area we were recommended to Max Shutler for a new Boiler Installation. I don't think I have ever seen work of such high quality and precise attention to detail in every aspect. We asked for a few minor extras but the final bill was exactly as quoted. Max is very impressive and a complete professional who I will always recommend whenever I can.
